Barbara, Lady of the Woods,

Icon Statement:
Painted this picture from a solarized photo that i took of my wife, Barbara, in 1969. She was standing deep in the woods with the sunlight streaming in behind her.
I chose Barbara as my icon subject because she helped
raise four of the most awesome children you could ever hope for, and twelve
of those years were in the sub arctic wilds of Alaska in truly pioneer
conditions.
During the unveiling of the ARTERY panels, I mentioned
that the beauty of her image could very well represent "all women" and to
do that it has to go beyond the physical. I believe it's represented in her
expression of pure joy, spirit, and ultimately representing the divinity in
us all.
This is the "crown of light" she wears, and I have
chosen to represent that with solar lights that collect the sun from the
day that lights up the dark.
